It is an interesting middle ground between physical and digital distribution. You get an actual package that can sit alongside the rest of your Nintendo Switch 2 collection, but the expansion itself is still downloaded digitally rather than supplied on physical game media.
For collectors, that distinction might sound slightly odd at first. After all, isn’t the whole point of buying something physically to have the software on the thing inside the box?
In this case, the attraction is primarily the packaging and retail availability. The announcement also arrives after the Expansion Pass has already started adding substantial new areas and features to Pokémon Pokopia, so anyone joining through this physical package will have plenty waiting for them once their code has been redeemed.
