Ape Academy 2 is a party game developed by Shift and Alvion, published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). It serves as the sequel to Ape Escape Academy and was released in Japan on December 15, 2005, followed by European and Australian releases in 2006. Notably, it was not initially released in North America. However, on March 21, 2023, it was re-released worldwide as a PSP Classic for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, marking its first official North American release

In Ape Academy 2, players engage in a unique blend of card battles and mini-games. The antagonist, Specter, has introduced a new card game that has become immensely popular among both humans and monkeys. Players must collect and strategically use over 300 cards in a rock-paper-scissors format to determine which mini-game will be played next. Winning these mini-games allows players to advance through various islands, each culminating in a boss battle. The ultimate goal is to defeat Specter and claim the rare “Platinum Specter” card and a year’s supply of bananas

Ape Academy 2 received mixed reviews. Critics appreciated the variety of mini-games but noted that the card battle system could lead to repetitive gameplay. Some players found the structure limiting, as it often forced them to replay the same mini-games to progress .​
